We consider all ColonialWebb employees to be an extended family. For this reason, the health and safety of the talented men and women in our ranks is a top priority. “Safety dominates our actions” is much more than a mantra here – it’s woven into the fabric of our daily work.
The goal is easy: “zero injuries.” Everyone in our company will tell you that achieving it is at the top of our list of things that matter.
Why? Because they matter – each one of our employees. Together, we form the best ColonialWebb possible, and we do it with a meticulous focus on several fundamentals:
Leadership
Our Executive Committee sets the “Safety First” mindset at ColonialWebb. Our senior leaders created a Safety Steering Committee to set safety standards and ensure we meet them. Our managers know that reinforcing safety is among the most important topics we communicate company-wide.
Communication
We take every possible chance to talk about safety through:
- Meetings and seminars
- Training
- Personal and site audits
Training
We train employees on safety in a number of effective ways:
- General safety course for all new employees
- Red hardhats for all new employees for 60 days (Those who complete their first 60 days with zero violations receive a white hardhat)
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) – training for all employees on topics including hazard communication, fall protection and maintaining equipment
- 10-hour OSHA training for field personnel
- 30-hour OSHA training for leadership
- First aid and CPR certifications for all field personnel
- OSHA 1910 and 1926 certifications for service technicians and construction personnel, respectively
Accountability
Our insurance partner Marsh USA along with our safety director conduct semi-annual safety audits on randomly selected employees including:
- Division Managers
- Construction Managers
- Superintendents
- Shop Foremen
- Service Department Managers
- Service Unit Managers
Our safety program also includes mandatory drug testing and daily work area inspections.
Incentives
We reward safe behavior. Our employees can earn a wide range of prizes from cash to company apparel for solid performance.
Tools & Equipment
All employees are properly trained on the use and maintenance of the tools and equipment required to do their jobs.
Partnerships
To stay ahead of the changes in our industry and maintain the safest environment possible, we’ve partnered with Marsh USA and Zurich North America to help us build our safety program.
