Our Capabilities

Process Safety

Safety is fundamental to our business, and therefore dominates our actions. Over the past 30-plus years of business, we’ve taken every step possible to ensure not only our safety, but also that of our clients.

Today, Process Safety Management (PSM) is not just a written program or an after thought. It is incorporated in the initial design, equipment selection, material purchases and project installation. We also carry Process Safety Management through as a quality assurance tool from start to finish.

About Our Approach
We begin with design calculations including:

  • Material and energy balances
  • Load calculations
  • Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Relief design basis
  • Ventilation design basis

After we establish the design, we evaluate the equipment and material to be purchased to assess quality and correct specifications. We compile all piping and equipment materials for future reference.

The development of the controls provides documentation of operating parameters including controls drawings and a list of safety systems and set points.

Once we define all the design parameters, we’re ready to order the equipment. We conduct a process hazard analysis (PHA) with a team from ColonialWebb Contractors who know the system and its design and operation.

The PHA provides our clients and their end users with valuable information including standard operating procedures (SOPs). We then develop and update the remainder of the Process Safety Management program with input from end users. Together, we help the end users determine steps for easy implementation.

Typically, we implement the Process Safety Management activities in partnership with our Service Department or the end user’s maintenance department.
