Chemical Biological RDT&E Facility, Dahlgren, Virginia
The Challenge:
ColonialWebb Contractors designed the mechanical and plumbing systems for a new laboratory at the Naval Surface Warfare Center. The 35,000 square-foot laboratory serves as a testing and research facility for biological warfare, with an emphasis on detection of biological agents.
Our Approach:
ColonialWebb installed the following mechanical systems:
- Chilled water
- Heating water
- Laboratory air flow controls
- Laboratory hood exhaust and filtration
- Air distribution
We provided plumbing services for laboratory gases and waste and for domestic water systems.
Part of the project included a specially fabricated chamber for testing submarine and other ocean-going vessel filtration equipment. ColonialWebb fabricated the equipment along with the control and instrumentation consoles.
