Project:
Hanover High School, Hanover, Virginia
The Challenge:
ColonialWebb Contractors assisted in the construction of the 290,000 square-foot high school. We designed and installed elements that would support traditional classroom and administrative spaces, along with multiple laboratories, a theatre and a greenhouse.
The structural design of the school called for alternating masonry with steel load bearing. That, coupled with strict post-September 11 steel fire-proofing mandates, caused the schedule for mechanical work to be shorter than traditional school construction.
Our Approach:
After a careful analysis of the needs, ColonialWebb placed HVAC piping, 274,000 pounds of ductwork, plumbing, acid-waste drainage, compressed-air piping and underground ductwork.
We installed the following equipment:
- Three air-cooled chillers – 600 tons, total
- 10 air handling units – 115,000 CFM, total
- Four energy recovery units – 82,000 CFM, total
- 10 HVAC pumps
- Seven boilers – 13,000 MBH, total
ColonialWebb provided the appropriate planning and personnel to complete this project on time.
