Project:
Nestle – Stouffer Foods, Gaffney, South Carolina
The Challenge:
The Nestle plant is a food processing and packaging facility for Stouffer and Lean Cuisine dinners. Because the facility produces ready-to-eat meals, air quality, humidity and plant pressurization are extremely important.
ColonialWebb Contractors holds the service contract on the rooftop air conditioning units and the rooftop air handling units. We also are responsible for maintaining the units’ filters.
Our Approach:
In assessing the needs for its new client, ColonialWebb discovered that Nestle previously changed its filters on a regularly scheduled basis. As part of our service agreement, we recommended the installation of magnehelic gauges to measure the actual pressure drop across the filters and then to change the dirty filters only when indicated.
The new approach reduced the frequency of filter changes and saved Nestle about $21,000 annually
With a successful working relationship in place, Nestle asked ColonialWebb to replace and upgrade several of the rooftop units. In the future, we will perform energy upgrades to the ammonia refrigeration system and replace any additional units as needed.
