Project:
Dan Daniel Distribution Center, Newport News, Virginia
The Challenge:
The Dan Daniel Distribution Center is a warehouse that provides food and other merchandise to military stores. The 1.3 million square-foot distribution facility needed new HVAC systems due to age and low efficiency.
Due to the warehouse’s continuous operation, the project had to be completed in a single weekend.
Our Approach:
ColonialWebb Contractors replaced:
- Two 40-ton Trane Intellipak rooftop packaged systems
- One 20-ton Trane gas pack
- One 5-ton Trane gas pack
- One Reznor gas-fired, make-up air unit
In addition, the client wanted our project connected to its Honeywell Integrated Life Safety and HVAC control system.
With careful pre-construction planning and expert on-site management, ColonialWebb successfully managed the brief installation timeframe. We orchestrated the near simultaneous use of a 40-ton crane, a 120-ton crane and a helicopter in order to position all pieces in place without delay. We replaced the equipment within 48 hours and all systems were operational by the beginning of the work week.
It is amazing what you can accomplish in a weekend.
