Project:
Massanutten Ski Resort, Massanutten, Virginia
The Challenge:
For its guests, the resort offers an indoor entertainment complex, built in the 1970s, that features three swimming pools. The aging heating and dehumidification systems for the pools were operating ineffectively. Windows dripped with moisture, and the water temperatures were uneven. When the pools were drained, the current heating system took 72 hours to get the water temperatures back to normal.
ColonialWebb Contractors was brought in to design and build new systems for the pool areas.
Our Approach:
ColonialWebb installed a Desert Aire Dehumidification System to provide a consistent temperature and humidity year-round. We secured separate Lochnivar gas-fired boilers to heat each pool and to provide heat for the Desert Aire unit. A new Fabric Dock Sock distributed the air to the facility.
Upon completion, the complex now has dry windows, even temperature and humidity, and the three pools can be reheated in eight hours.
