Manufacturing

Project:
Infineon Technologies, Sandston, Virginia

The Challenge:
Infineon is a semiconductor manufacturing company. ColonialWebb Contractors outfitted the facility’s administration and cafeteria area and its central utilities buildings with HVAC and plumbing systems.

Our Approach:
By analyzing the job in two pieces, ColonialWebb focused specifically on the needs for both aspects of the project.

For the 200,000-square-foot administration and cafeteria building, we installed DX packaged VAV rooftop units, VAV distribution system with DDC controls and plumbing. We established a separate HVAC system for the computer rooms.

The first central utilities building (CUB) covered about 70,000 square feet. In this space, we placed chillers, boilers, pumps, domestic plumbing package and towers which totaled about 5,000 tons of cooling capacity.

The second CUB was a new 11,700-ton chiller plant. During this project, ColonialWebb upgraded the hot water of the first CUB. The second CUB was a fast-track project that we completed with quality work in a timely fashion.
