Project:
Riverside on the James, Richmond, Virginia
The Challenge:
Riverside on the James is a 205,000 square-foot, eight-story office tower. It sits atop a six-story parking garage and is connected to a 129,000 square-foot, nine-story residential tower.
ColonialWebb Contractors used our expertise to install heating, cooling and plumbing to all necessary areas of the project.
Our Approach:
To better understand how to proceed, we built full-scale mock-ups of two apartments in our shop. The team then produced prefabricated plumbing and HVAC assemblies. This method resolved coordination issues among all trades prior to construction, and it expedited field installation for all trades.
For the office tower, two 450-ton cooling towers provided cooling to a vertical self-contained unit on each floor and to Liebert AC units in the computer rooms. The residential tower had 122 condos with installed individual split-system heat pumps.
