Project:
Westminster Canterbury, Richmond, Virginia
The Challenge:
Westminster Canterbury is a retirement and healthcare facility that needed additional space for its residents and staff. Officials planned an expansion project that entailed more than 750,000 square-feet of construction for seniors that includes independent living cottages, assisted living and memory support. The project also included a building for maintenance, entry and security, and a building for an on-site theatre.
The project involved constructing three major buildings simultaneously following a tightly managed schedule.
Our Approach:
Although other contractors constructed the buildings using formed and poured concrete with post tensioning cables, this type of structure requires carefully dimensioned layout, sleeving and rough-in, which ColonialWebb Contractors handled. Our achievement was possible through a strong coordinated effort between our detailers and on-site supervision.
For success in prompt delivery and installation, we used that same coordinated technique, which enabled us to prefabricate and sub-assemble domestic water heating and heating/cooling fan coils.
Our detailers masterfully handled the tedious job of tagging and releasing all the necessary equipment, materials, fixtures and trimwork that then were assigned for the completion of each specific apartment.
