Project:
Bakefresh, Chesapeake, Virginia
The Challenge:
Bakefresh manufactures doughnuts, cookies, pastries and muffins for its retail customers. Business was expanding rapidly and production requirements were increasing.
ColonialWebb Contractors was under contract to maintain the HVAC system when the client asked us to design an on-site storage freezer.
Our Approach:
By working together with company officials, ColonialWebb determined that a 25-by-30-foot freezer would meet the current demand. We designed the refrigeration system, floor system and box.
We installed a heated built-up floor with the box, which was constructed from insulated panels. We placed a R404A Kramer refrigeration system, including a compressor, evaporator coils and a rooftop air-cooled condenser.
ColonialWebb designed and established all aspects of this job without support from outside engineers or subcontractors. The freezer faithfully continues to serve Bakefresh, which is considering the placement of a large storage refrigerator to accommodate new product production.
